The new Panasonic turntable is an ode to the revival of vinyl

Panasonic has introduced a high-end turntable spectacular in the year 2016, showing the coexistence of streaming services with the classic ritual of listening to vinyl.

Vinyl is back, we all know. Sales continue to grow remarkably in Europe and the United States and trademarks are aware. Panasonic has dared a high-end turntable for DJs and audiophiles that preserves the essence of the vinyl with the latest technological advances in sound.

Due to the proliferation of CD, record players were disappearing from the market, but in the 2016 enjoyed a sales unthinkable decades ago. Its warm sound, still loved by many, and the obligation imposed tacitly only listen to music and do nothing, the revival made.

In his lecture the CES 2016, Panasonic showed in detail that this turntable will take the name of their classic and Immortale Technics SL-1200. The focus is clear: the enthusiast niche sound and, although we have no money, we know from the materials to be something expensive.

The story of the mythical Technics SL-1200

That dish Technics SL-1200 was born in 1972 as a stereo turntable over, but soon revolutionized the market for vinyls with its direct drive motor which became a great tool for radio DJs, as it allowed them to put songs from the point they wanted with a soft well above the belt drive. That model is still highly coveted on the second hand currently, and have therefore decided to revive it in the best way possible. An ode to vinyl and the Technics brand.

They will launch two versions: a limited edition for the 50th anniversary of Technics called 'Grand Class SL-1200GAE' which will be limited in summer and, of course, to 1200 units. Also it sells unlimited version 1200G at the end of 2016.

The new SL-1200 be able to solve the problems of direct drive turntable today, eliminating the sound degradation caused by small rotational vibrations of the engine.

Why relaunch this legendary record player? Because vinyl 9 million were sold during the first half of 2015 in the US, because we generated $ 221.8 million between January and June of 2015 growing by 52% every year and because, although objectively not vinyl is better than CD , yet still they provide a sound and almost religious experience that can never replicate any streaming music service.
